EAST LONGMEADOW – Fear not carnival lovers and fair foodies, the annual East Longmeadow carnival is a go.
The town was left to decide what to do about the annual summer carnival after Town Manager Denise Menard learned the East Longmeadow Jaycees, the group that had sponsored the carnival in the past, had disbanded.
Due to this news, the town planned to only host its Fourth of July parade and the Rotary Club stepped up to assume responsibility of the annual July 3 fireworks.
Following a meeting on Friday, East Longmeadow Town Council member Kevin Manley expressed his excitement that the carnival would be coming to East Longmeadow for five days this year.
“A company came forward and volunteered to run the carnival and they’re donating a lot of money to the town for it,” Manley said.
R.W. Commerford & Sons of Goshen, CT will be sponsoring the carnival. In the past, the company has provided rides for fairgoers to enjoy.
The carnival will be held on Center Field and will begin on Thursday June 29 with the final day of operation on July 3. For more information about the town’s celebrations go to www.eastlongmeadowma.gov/521/4th-of-July.
