E.L. businesses pitch in to help the Jimmy Fund

EAST LONGMEADOW East Longmeadow businesses are pitching in to help make the 17th annual Great Chefs event to benefit the Jimmy Fund the most successful to date. Presented by Kittredge Equipment Company -Winer Levsky Group "Great Chefs: Round Up" gourmet sampling and social event is scheduled for Jan. 26, at Chez Josef in Agawam. Elmcrest Country Club and Fazio's Ristorante will be among the 25 restaurant vendors lassoing up foods for the crowd to sample.

This year's rodeo themed event is once again expected to be a sell-out. Last year's Great Chefs raised more than $75,000 for cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, bringing the total contribution to over $600,000 since 1990.

"While raising vital funds to support the lifesaving mission of Dana-Farber, guests will enjoy a fun-filled evening and delicious samplings from the finest area restaurants," said Andrew Cohen, president of the Jimmy Fund Council of Western Massachusetts. "We are truly grateful to our participating restaurants and also to the tremendous financial support of area businesses, without which none of this would be possible."

The evening will include a silent auction, music by After Hours DJ Service, and a raffle. Great Chefs tickets are $65 per person and support the important work of Dana-Farber. Tickets are available by visiting the website at
