ELEEF prepares for 15th annual golf outing

chrism@thereminder.comEAST LONGMEADOW – The East Longmeadow Educational Endowment Fund (ELEEF) is gearing up for the 15th year of one of its signature fundraising events.
The 15th Annual ELEEF Golf Outing, which along with the annual dinner dance is one of the largest functions put on by the organization, is slated to take place June 2 at 1 p.m. at Twin Hills Country Club and golfers and sponsors are still being sought.
The money goes directly to help provide funding for educational and enrichment programs, initiatives and supplies that normally wouldn’t be afforded to teachers in East Longmeadow Public Schools.
“Last year this event was a big success. We made more than $10,000 – almost $11,000,” ELEEF Golf Chair Lori Parsons said. “This year we’re hoping to meet that goal again or maybe even go a little higher.”
Overall, ELEEF has funded more than $300,000 in grants. In 2013, the organization funded $13,750 in grants, while also receiving $6,280 from United Bank to fund the middle school robotics program and nearly $600 from the Rotary Club for a compound microscope for Mountain View Elementary School.
Last year’s outing attracted nearly 100 golfers, but “sponsors were the biggest hit,” Parsons said, explaining that more than 25 area businesses supported the cause.
“They weren’t just businesses from East Longmeadow, but from all over the local area, including Longmeadow, Enfield [Conn.], West Springfield and Agawam,” she said. “We really appreciate their support and in turn, we are able to support them. This year, we’re hopeful they will be back and we’ll also be able to add a few more.”
Available sponsorships include a new table sponsor option for which signage would be placed on a table at the dinner after the round of golf at a cost of $100. Dinner is slated for 6 p.m. and includes a cash bar, awards and raffles.
Other sponsorships include the beverage cart ($500), signage on a putting green or driving range for $250, and signage on a tee box for $100.
Individual golfers can register for $135, which includes 18 holes of golf and dinner. Foursomes receive the round of gold and dinner for $540. Corporate foursomes can register for $750 and receive the round of golf, dinner and company signage for two tees.
There is also an option for those who want to attend the dinner only for $35.
“We’ve found that there are people in the community who want to be involved and help out, but aren’t golfers,” Parsons said. “This dinner-only option allows those people to get involved and have a good time as well.”
