| EAST LONGMEADOW East Longmeadow Fire Chief P. Robert Wallace is pleased to announce that the Fire Department just received a Federal Fireact grant in the amount of $106,320. This grant is a 95 percent -Federal, five percent Department ($5,595.00) match for a total amount of $111,915.00. These funds will be used to purchase the replacement of 27 self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) for each Firefighter that are worn in any hazardous atmospheric condition. "Our present units are aging and becoming very expensive to repair," he said. "By replacing all of our air packs with this grant money, we will avoid having to spend thousands of dollars of tax payers' money over the next several years replacing these units." |
