E.L. native named assistant coach at University of South Alabama

EAST LONGMEADOW University of South Alabama women's volleyball head coach Nicole Keshock last week announced the hiring of Eric Snyder as new assistant coach.

"Eric is going to be a great addition to our program," said Keshock. "He is energetic and enthusiastic about coaching here at South Alabama and already has brought a lot of great ideas to our program.

"Eric's main responsibilities will include recruiting, setter training and development, home game management, and game tape exchange and scouting. I'm excited to see Eric work with our setters. His knowledge and background in that position will have an immediate impact on our offense."

Over the past two seasons, Snyder served as the graduate assistant volleyball coach at Tiffin University (NCAA II/NAIA) in Tiffin, Ohio. Snyder also was in charge of game management, scouting and film breakdown and coaching/training Tiffin's junior varsity team. He was able to create a men's club volleyball program and complete a master's degree in Business Administration during his time with the Dragons.

Before arriving at Tiffin, Snyder began his coaching career at Southern New Hampshire University (NCAA II). While at SNHU, he helped lead the Penmen to their best record (16-12) and first conference tournament appearance in 21 seasons.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management and Marketing from SNHU in 2004.

As a player, Snyder was a four-year starter at East Longmeadow High School (ELHS) and helped ELHS to four consecutive post season births and one Western Massachusetts championship appearance. Snyder also served as the SNHU's Men's Club Volleyball president, running the program and playing all four years as the team's starting setter. He helped lead the club to their first ever Northeast Collegiate Volleyball League Tournament appearance.
