Fund-raiser to help children deal with loss of loved one

news@thereminder.comEAST LONGMEADOW — Massage therapist Jennifer Fijol is hoping to help the children of a recently passed friend with a fund-raiser this month at Elite Image Spa and Salon, 489 North Main St.
Fijol will be offering discounts on massages with part of the money going to directly to the children of Heidi Vedovelli, who died in August of last year from lymphoma.
Fijol will be donating $10 from every hour-long and 80-minute massage she performs this month and is considering extending the effort into March. The discounted rates will apply only to people who book an appointment with Fijol by calling the salon at 525-9300.
Vedovelli has three children, two of whom attend school in East Longmeadow, Fijol told
Reminder Publications.
Vedovelli worked at Elite Image and Salon as a massage therapist when Fijol met her. Fijol took over her spot at the salon while Vedovelli was ill and was hoping she would be back again.
"I only knew Heidi for a short time but she taught me many things about life in our quiet moments together talking openly in that [massage] room," she said. "She was always positive even on her worst day and looked forward to the day she would be running around with her kids again."
