EAST LONGMEADOW – A graduate of Springfield College, Julia Stone is working toward becoming a school counselor. In her spare time, however, she has put needle to yarn and knitted herself a small business. Stone is the owner and crafter behind GoodSnuggin, a knit-craft business based in East Longmeadow.
“When I was 7 years old, my Nana had the love – and patience – to teach me how to knit. Soon after, I began crocheting and sewing, as well,” Stone said. “I did my first craft fair when I was 10 years old and realized how much I love sharing my crafts with my community.”
While in graduate school studying counseling, Stone said that she found the need for a creative outlet and rediscovered knit handicrafts. “After a stressful day of work and classes, I know I can always find peace in the work that I do for GoodSnuggin,” Stone said.
Working mainly in pastels, with chunky patterns, Stone crochets, knits and macramés a variety of products. Her Etsy store, at https://www.etsy.com/shop/GoodSnuggin, features ear warmers, scrunchies, clutches and keychains. GoodSnuggin also offers wall hangings, ornaments, wine bags, drink cozies and coasters, all hand-made.
“Some of my favorite things to make currently are macrame keychains, crochet tops and my macrame swings,” for porches or trees, Stone told Reminder Publishing. GoodSnuggin accepts custom requests if a customer doesn’t find what they’re looking for on the business’s Etsy or Instagram pages.
Stone said that she plans to continue GoodSnuggin after she finishes graduate school. “As a school counselor, I have a lot of free time during the summer,” she said. “I will scale back on some projects as I become busier with work, but I still love being able to work on pieces at night to de-stress and make something with my hands.”
In addition to the Etsy store, GoodSnuggin products can be found at https://www.instagram.com/goodsnuggin.
