EAST LONGMEADOW The East Longmeadow Jaycees have announced that their annual carnival will begin June 29 at 7 p.m. on the ball field in the center of town.

In addition to food, amusements and rides, the carnival will also feature live bands each night, culminating with the annual Fourth of July fireworks display on July 3 at 10 p.m.

Entertainment includes:

June 29 Classic Edge

June 30 Jeff and Jay Show with guest Jeff Decarli

July 1 Pandomonium

July 2 Opie Reed

July 3 NVS.

The carnival, brought to the community this year by Dreamland Amusements, opens at 6 p.m. each night and the pay one price option has returned. For $20 per person, attendees can ride unlimited rides for that day. Individual ride tickets will also be sold.

Hours for the carnival are:

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 6 p.m. to 12 a.m.

The fireworks, by Atlas Pyrotechnics, will be displayed from the East Longmeadow High School athletic fields at 10 p.m. on July 3 and have been sponsored by the East Longmeadow Jaycees, Teddy Bear Pools and Spas and Singer-Potito.

Police protection for the fireworks and carnival are not paid for through public funds, they cost $6,500 a year in addition to the $15,000 cost for the fireworks display. The Jaycees will gratefully accept donations to help offset the cost of police coverage for the events.
