Library sets summer hours

EAST LONGMEADOW Beginning the week of May 29, the East Longmeadow Public Library will be closed on Saturdays until after Labor Day.

The library will continue to be open Monday through Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Thursdays and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The library would also like to make its patrons aware that it now offers a selection of framed art prints and photographs available for borrowing. Many of these works of art had been in storage during the construction of the new library.

Since then, over 40 prints have been cataloged and may be borrowed for a period of two months. The Friends of the East Longmeadow Library have offered to provide the funds so that additional art prints may be purchased in the coming year. Now may be the perfect time to add a print or painting from your local public library to that blank wall at home or in your office.

New this spring is the library's participation in the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation's (DCR) "Use Nature As Your Library" Program.

As part of this program, the library has made available for borrowing a Massachusetts ParksPass which can be used to park free at over 50 day-use facilities in the state parks system through Dec. 31.

In order to borrow the ParksPass, the library requires a valid library card. More information about this free pass is available by either visiting or calling the library (525-5400), or by accessing the library's web site. The Department of Conservation and Recreation invites you to explore over 449,000 acres of parks, forests, mountains and beaches right in your own back yard. By participating in this program, your local public library would like to help you make the most of your visit.
