EAST LONGMEADOW Last week, the owner of Heritage Park Plaza in East Longmeadow announced that it would like to bring a Lowe's Home Improvement Center to that property, on land which is zoned industrial.

Planning Board Administrator Robyn MacDonald told The Reminder last week that, even though the developer, Boston-based Edens and Avant, announced their intentions to bring the big box store to town, they have not yet filed anything with the Planning Office.

"Edens and Avant did meet informally with the Planning Board [last week] to discuss a possible proposal to build a Lowe's in the area behind the Stop and Shop plaza on North Main Street," MacDonald added. "The land is zoned industrial."

She said that, at this time, there is no determination that the developer will need to apply for a Special Permit.

"Until a plan is filed with me, I cannot give you any information on what the developer is proposing," MacDonald said.

A spokesperson for Edens and Avant could not be contacted by press time.

The developers have invited neighbors of the property to a presentation at Panera Bread in Heritage Park Plaza on Aug. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

Their invitation states, "Edens and Avant and Lowe's are committed to creating a store which is mindful of our neighbors' concerns and which enhances the existing development in the town."

MacDonald said the land which the developers would like to purchase, and on which the Lowe's would be built, is currently owned by Jack Stanley.
