Mark your calendars there's lots going on at the East Longmeadow Library this summer

EAST LONGMEADOW The East Longmeadow Public Library last week announced its Summer Children's Programs.



July Activities



There's still time to Join! Don't Delay, Do it Today! Any reading that was done from June 19 on, will count, regardless of when you register. Monday, June 19 The What's Buzzin' @ your library Summer Reading and Read-to-Me Program Begins! Register anytime from June 19 on! All ages welcome! We welcome both readers and children who need to be read to.

DIRECTIONS: We know you can do it! It's Easy! Have a parent or guardian initial a clock on the calendar to show that you have read for an hour.

For each hour you read you will earn a raffle ticket for the Pick-your-own-prize raffle. Whenever you can, bring your logbook to the library to be checked off and receive your prizes.

NOTE: Reading Club Hours are from: 9:30 a.m. until a half an hour before regular closing time. All logbooks must be reported by July 31 to receive credit. Also any reading or listening done from June 19 on will be counted, regardless of when you registered.

Read and earn raffle tickets for fabulous prize packages. If we draw your ticket you will receive that prize package. All readers and read to me children will receive some prizes.

July 5-10:30 a.m. Music Together with Sondra Lewis. A wonderful music & movement program suitable for Infants through age 6. Registration is necessary as there are 40 slots available. Registration will insure a spot!

July 7, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Cartooning Workshop with Michael Cady, suitable for children in Grades 4 - 7. Registration is necessary, as there is a maximum of 25 children. This is sponsored by Michael Cady.

July 6, 10:30 a.m. Read to Rover with Lassie and Kelley Phillips. Meet "Lassie" a fully trained Reading Therapy Shetland Sheepdog. We will read to you, and you will have a chance to read to Lassie. All ages are welcome. Space is limited to the first 60 who Register. This is sponsored by Kelly Phillips.

July 12, 11 a.m. Stories and a meet and greet with Dora the Explorer! It's true! Dora is stepping out of her books and movies and is coming to the East Longmeadow Library because she wants to meet he fans! Children ages 3 & up are encouraged to hear stories and meet Dora! Bring a camera because there will be a photo opportunity! Suitable for all children. Sixty slots are available. Registration will insure a spot! This is sponsored by U Fund Starts U Reading.

July 13, 2 p.m. Big Ryan's Tall Tales. Join us for an hour of stories, songs, and laughter! Everyone is sure to love Big Ryan! Suitable for ages 5 and older. Sixty slots are available. Registration will insure a spot! This is sponsored by the Meadowbrook Kindergarten Program Fund.

July 18, 10:30 a.m. Toe Jam Puppet Band Variety Show. Big kids Tom and Vinnie bring smiles, giggles, and dance to everyone, with their unique combination of original and interactive songs and stories. Suitable for all ages. Sixty slots available. Registration will insure a spot! This is sponsored by the Friends of the East Longmeadow Library.

July 19, 11 a.m. Mother Goose is coming to the East Longmeadow Library! She will tell us stories and include you in them, perform magic tricks, and magically make treats appear! This interactive performance is suitable for children 3 to 7 years of age. Registration is limited to the first 60 children. Registration will insure a spot! This is sponsored by the Sylvan Learning Center.

July 20, 2:30 to 4 p.m. Anime Film Festival with Sarah Hodge Wetherbe. Explore the World of Anime (Japanese film animation). Suitable for ages 6 and older. Sixty slots available. Registration will insure a spot! This is sponsored by the East Longmeadow Library.

July 27, 2 p.m. Make-a-Bug House Workshop. Join Ms. Joanne & Ms. Cindy as we show you how to make your own bughouse. You will need to bring a clean 2-liter bottle. Suitable for ages 7 12. Registration is necessary as space is limited to 25. This is sponsored by The East Longmeadow Library.

July 31, The What's Buzzin' @ your library Reading and Read-To-Me Program ends. We hope you enjoyed The East Longmeadow Library's 2006 Summer Reading Program, and that the books you read took you to new and exciting places! We knew you could! Ms. Cindy, Ms. Janie, and Ms. Joanne.



August Activities



Aug. 8, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Summer Reading Club Skating Party by invitation only, requires 6 days of reading. If you have received a ticket to the Summer Reading Club Party at Interskate 91, you and your family will be able to join us for this fabulous event.

The Summer Reading Club Raffle Prize winners will be announced, and any lucky winners at the event will receive their raffle prize. Those winners unable to attend will be notified by phone and may pick up their prize at the library. Good Luck! This is sponsored by Interskate 91.

Aug. 17 and Aug. 24, 11 a.m. Stories in the Park. Children ages 3 and up are invited to Center Hill Park, (The Little Red Schoolhouse) for stories and activities with Ms. Cindy, Ms. Janie, and Ms. Joanne. We will have a Teddy Bear Picnic on Aug. 17, so bring your favorite stuffed friend! On Aug. 24th we will have Watermelon Tales. Yes we will really have watermelon! Bring a picnic lunch, and we will provide dessert!
