Date: 12/4/2014

EAST LONGMEADOW – My Main Squeeze, a vegetarian and gluten-free juice bar locate at 48 Shaker Road, recently celebrated its opening weekend on Nov. 22 after a month of renovations.

“There’s no other juice bars in the area,” Cassandra Cerasuolo, owner and operator of My Main Squeeze, said. “Basically, I want people to walk in the door and know that whatever they’re buying, whether it’s a juice, a smoothie, baked goods or the bars, that it’s good for them.”

Cerasuolo, 24, said there are no added sugars, food dyes, or preservatives in any food items at My Main Squeeze.

“[All of the drinks] are made fresh to order so literally what you read in the description is what you get,” she added.

The menu includes smoothies such as “Funky Monkey,” a blend of almond milk, banana, Greek yogurt, peanut butter, cocoa powder, agave, and vanilla as well as juices such as the popular “Liquid Gold,” which features a puree of carrot, apple, orange, pineapple, peach, and banana.

There is also an emphasis on providing fresh local food items to customers at My Main Squeeze, Cerasuolo added. Baked goods come from Bridget’s Breads of Burlington, CT, the juice bar’s honey is from Tom’s Wildflower Honey of Ludlow, and the coffee is from Pierce Brothers of Greenfield.

Cerasuolo is a 2008 graduate of East Longmeadow High School and graduated in 2012 from the University of Massachusetts Amherst Eugene M. Isenberg School of Management with a degree in business.

“If further down we can open up more locations, that’s fantastic,” she added.

Previously, the location was Redstone Creamery, which sold ice cream and frozen yogurt. Cerasuolo said she worked at Redstone and later bought the shop from the owner.

The renovations to the location include new light fixtures with a mason jar design, new tables, furniture, and painting.

My Main Squeeze also features food items such as dehydrated kale chips mixed with olive oil and sea salt, salads, fresh hummus with vegetables, power shots, boosters, and chia seed breakfast pudding.

Cerasuolo said customers can also purchase a juice cleansing, which features six 16-ounce juices per day for one to three day periods. As well, there is a “Juice Till Dinner option” consisting of four juices per day and one large quinoa salad.

During the business’ first week there was a steady line of customers, she added.

Cerasuolo said My Main Squeeze also has partnerships with Heartsong Yoga, Elements Massage, and Bia Fitness. The local businesses’ are part of the Pioneer Valley Wellness Alliance.

“I’ve always wanted to open my own business and I just became really passionate about juicing,” she added.
