EAST LONGMEADOW -- Carleen Fischer Hoffman (center), a member of the East Longmeadow Green Committee, unveiled her Green Learning Center on the second floor of the East Longmeadow Public Library on Earth Day, April 22. She said she had learned about easy ideas and easy changes for a greener future while visiting the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo and wanted to bring those simple concepts back to her hometown.

"The goal of the center is to educate residents on being earth-conscious," Fischer Hoffman said. She explained that the exhibits in the display will change every four to six weeks.

Stan Prager (left), of the Library Board of Trustees, said the information in the display was "critical for our planet." Selectman Jim Driscoll (right), chair of the Green Committee, added that the center is "a symbol of what's to come."
