Date: 6/9/2021

EAST LONGMEADOW – East Longmeadow residents chose to stay the course when they cast their ballots in the election races for Town Council and School Committee.

Incumbent Thomas O’Connor won another three-year term on the council and will be joined by Connor O’Shea, who is filling the seat left vacant by Donald Anderson. O’Connor received 809 votes, with O’Shea coming in second with 715 votes and the third candidate, Cassandra Cerasuolo receiving 577 votes. “Thank you to all residents who voted for getting out to the polls. I wish the winners the best of luck on the Town Council,” Cerasuolo said.

O’Shea also thanked voters. “Of all levels of government, local government tends to have the greatest impact on the quality of life of residents,” said O’Shea. “I am happy that so many of you entrusted me to carry your vision for East Longmeadow forward and I look forward to serving you over the coming years.”

On the School Committee, Sarah Truoiolo maintained her seat with 721 votes against Aimee Dalenta’s 648 votes.

“Thank you to the family and friends and residents of East Longmeadow for supporting me. And congratulations to Amy and her family on a well-run campaign,” Truoiolo said. Moving forward, she said, “I think we need to work in a cooperative fashion with other boards in town.” She cited the summer learning program and balancing academic social-emotional needs in the fall as priorities.

With 1,400 votes cast in the election, 11.2 percent of the town came out to vote.
