Planning Board seeks to fill vacancy



The Planning Board announces the resignation of Louis Calabrese, Clerk of the Planning Board effective Oct. 15. Calabrese has been a resident of East Longmeadow since 1965 with his wife Alice and their five children. He has served as an active member of the Planning Board since 1985 and prior to that was a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals from 1980 through 1985. In 1977 Calabrese opened the Countryside Store and continues to be a longstanding contributor to the community. He has given back to the town by serving as Charter President of the East Longmeadow Unico; Chairman of the East Longmeadow Housing Partnership from 1995 - 2006; past President of the East Longmeadow Lions Club; former member of the Chamber of Commerce and a former member of the East Longmeadow Jaycees.

Calabrese is resigning from the Board in order to allow him to spend more time with his family in his new home in Naples, Fla.

He will be missed by his colleagues and they wish him well in his future endeavors.

The Planning Board will be accepting letters of interest and r sum s from residents of the town who are interested in filling this vacancy. The term will be immediate and last until the election in April 2008. All submittals are to be sent to the Office of the Planning Board, 60 Center Square, East Longmeadow, MA 01028. No telephone calls please. The office will be accepting letters and resumes until Oct. 26 at 4 p.m.
