Selectmen announce hearing, trash schedule

EAST LONGMEADOW The Board of Selectmen last week made two announcements as follows.

The Board of Selectmen will hold a Public Hearing on Oct. 3, at 6 p.m. in the Community Room of the East Longmeadow Public Library.

The purpose of the hearing will be to determine the percentages of tax levy to be borne by each class of real or personal property for Fiscal Year 2007.

All interested East Longmeadow residents are welcome to attend this hearing and to present any oral or written comments on this matter. In the event that a taxpayer is unable to attend the hearing, written comments may be submitted in advance to the Board of Selectmen, 60 Center Square, East Longmeadow, MA 01028; or via email at: nbreault@eastlongmeadow.org.

Residents also are advised that trash pickup will follow its normal schedule during the week of Oct. 9-13. The trash pickup schedule will not be affected by the observance of Columbus Day on Oct. 9. This will be a paper recycle week.

The next holiday to affect the trash schedule will be Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23.

Residents are reminded to put their trash and recyclables out no later than 7 a.m. and to leave them out until picked up or 6 p.m.

In the event that trash has not been picked up by 6 p.m. due to poor weather, etc., residents should leave or put their trash out for pickup the next day by 7 a.m. Residents that have questions about their pickup should call Central Mass Disposal at 1-800-352-3255, or the Board of Selectmen's Office at 525-5400 extension 420.
