Special to The Reminder

EAST LONGMEADOW The smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector give away has come to a close.

We handed out 700 smoke detectors and 452 carbon monoxide detectors and over 1,000 lights sticks during a three week period to town seniors who are homeowners.

We also passed out over 400 lights sticks to the seniors who live in senior housing complexes throughout the town.

The program was a success in adding the protection to hundreds of more homes in town with early warning devices in the event of fire or carbon monoxide poisoning.

Thanks to all involved.
