EAST LONGMEADOW On Sept. 16 about 50 people laced up their walking shoes and hit the pavement as a part of the team Radcliffe is the Reason and Arthur Too! These individuals along with countless members of the community helped raise money for the annual Walk for Autism Research.

Radcliffe is the Reason and Arthur Too!'s team raised $21,000.

"It take so many people to raise that money," Gina Kenison said.

Kenison, and her husband Radcliffe, are the parents of Radcliffe and Arthur, two youngsters living with autism. The couple take time throughout the year to shine light on the disorder. Each fall they gear up to participate in the Walk and shoot for a higher fund-raising goal.

This year they set their goal at $10,000 and doubled that amount.

In addition to funds raised by sponsors of team members, a large number of businesses throughout the area kept donation jars available on their counters.

"The more people you have [helping] the further out in the community it reaches," Kenison added. "You know the saying, 'it takes a whole village to raise a kid.'"
