Villamaino discusses run for Selectman seat

Enrico "Jack" Villamaino, III of East Longmeadow has announced his candidacy for the seat on the East Longmeadow Select Board left open after the resignation of Gary Delisle in November 2006.

"I'm very excited about this race," states Villamaino. "East Longmeadow has been very good to me and my family. Over forty members of my family have passed through its school system, providing us all with an outstanding education. East Longmeadow has also been home to the family business, E.J. Villamaino Landscaping and Paving, Co., Inc. since the 1950's. I am really looking forward to serving the town that has been so good to me and those close to me."

Villamaino is a 1995 graduate of East Longmeadow High School and earned his bachelors degree from Boston University. He has spent over ten years working for his family's business and more recently served as the legislative aide to Massachusetts Senate Minority Leader Brian Lees.

"I believe that it's important to lobby the state Legislature to ensure that cities and towns get their fair share of local aid funding. I am glad to have the experience of working in the State House. I am sure that it will help me in communicating with our representatives on Beacon Hill."

Known for knocking on over 16,000 doors during his previous campaign for the State Senate, Villamaino has continued this practice and has visited homes in the town to learn their concerns and ideas. "Many people are concerned with the growth in East Longmeadow. There has been a lot of development here in recent years. The people I've spoken to have said that development is a fine thing, but it should be controlled." There is another sentiment that voters have often shared with Villamaino, "Property taxes are a huge concern for the people of East Longmeadow. I will carry out my responsibilities as Selectman in a manner that always keeps the interests of the taxpayer in mind."

"East Longmeadow is a wonderful town. I want to see it become an even more inviting place in which families can raise their children and seniors to enjoy their retirement. I ask that the voters of East Longmeadow help me to work for them by voting for me on Tuesday, January 23rd."
