Altitude Trampoline Park to open at Holyoke Mall

Date: 2/9/2021

HOLYOKE –   A new company is coming to the Holyoke Mall and plans to provide families with a safe way to have fun.

Victor Rodriguez serves as the general manager of the Altitude Trampoline Park. Rodriguez said the Altitude Trampoline Park opened their first location in Attleboro in eastern Massachusetts and will now be expanding their location to Holyoke where the Flight Fit n Fun location used to be.

Rodriguez said Altitude took over the location in August, and not much needed to be done to make it ready for the transition. “The park itself is in very, very great condition,” he said. However, he added the most significant change was the marketing from what it was previously to be more in line with Altitude’s color scheme and promotional materials.

He said the park had the opportunity to open back in October “once numbers stopped climbing.” However, when Governor Charlie Baker put stricter gathering restrictions in place for businesses and residents, Rodriguez said they were forced to close their doors.

“It’s ultimately up to Gov. Baker and the CDC, and the statistics that they have to open back up. We’re waiting for it to be announced to give families an outlet,” he said.

When they are given the go ahead to open their doors to families once again, he said Altitude will be ready and safe for all. He said cleaning and hand sanitizing stations had been installed throughout the location and they would be operating at a reduced capacity, something they’d been doing in the North Attleboro location. Staff, he said, had been provided with masks and “sanitization kits throughout the park.”

Additionally, Rodriguez said they would be using “fogging machines throughout the park,” that would “kill the virus and still be safe for people to use the equipment.”

“It’s all safe chemicals. Altitude already has been clean, this isn’t anything new for us,” he said.

Apart from offering guests and staff a safe experience, Rodriguez outlined the entertainment experiences they would be offering local families as wells. One unique program that Altitude would be implementing, he said, is a membership program. “It’s taken a couple of years to create this program. A two hour jump costs $25, we’re going to be offering a membership for $10 per member, you can jump every single day for two hours,” he said.

In addition to the two hour jump, he said children who are subscribed to the membership can bring their parents to jump with them for just $4 or a friend to jump for just $10 on a day they visit the park. Other membership perks include bypassing lines and discounts.

Rodriguez said one of Altitude’s goals is to “provide an outlet for families to have fun without getting too deep into their wallets.” Another way they plan to do this is to provide “combo pricing” that will allow people to use both the trampoline park and the arcade that will be offered to guests.

Rodriguez said one offering that Altitude was most proud of was their fundraising program with local community members and organizations. “We work with a lot of communities and organizations, sports teams, PTA’s to give back to the community,” he said, and emphasized that not being able to help with the fundraising effort has been one of the most difficult parts of being closed. Over the years, he said Altitude has given out “tens of thousands of dollars in fundraising.”

He said when Altitude took over the location, all employees of the Flight Fit n Fun location had already been laid off, so they didn’t have many records or connections to them. However, he emphasized that they are happy to be bringing more jobs to the Holyoke area. “We’re very, very happy to bring jobs back to the community,” he said.

Rodriguez emphasized that while they would be starting both staff and guest experience at limited and reduced capacity, eventually “in our peak time we had upwards of 140-150 people.” When they do reopen their doors to guests, he said customers will be able to use the specific socks needed to jump at the park that they purchased from Flight Fit n Fun. “We’re going to have a little bit of a grace period. We’re going to still continue on with Flight socks, still keep selling them, then transition over to all things that Altitude has,” he said.

When the transition to Altitude socks happens, he said they were “going to let customers know.” Additionally, he said, “You can trade in competitors socks and you don’t have to pay for them here. You can trade those in and then we’ll give you Altitude socks for free.”
