HOLYOKE – On Nov. 9, Dr. James W. McCann of Atlas Chiropractic and his staff presented a check for $3,500 to representatives of Kate's Kitchen at Providence Ministries. They exceeded their goal of $2,000 due to generous donations from their customers.
For the past nine years, McCann, his staff, and customers have collected money and food during their annual Customer Appreciation Day – this year was a little different because they only collected monetary donations. During this event, customers made an appointment, and instead of paying $50 for an adjustment, they paid $20 and received “a special treat” – a “big homemade cookie” from Pottery Cellar, of Westfield, and an atlas bone keychain.
McCann said that customers were exceptionally generous this year, and some gave more, which helped them exceed their goals.
During the check presentation, Executive Director of Providence Ministries, Jenni Adanazyk, expressed her thanks by stating, “We have served over 240 people every day, lunch 365 days a year, and we’ve given out over 1.8 million pounds of food from our little one-car garage food pantry this year. So, this is going to really help the people in our community.”
Adanazyk added, “Without businesses like this helping us, we don’t serve the people that we want to, and it’s so important because we don’t have government funding. So, whatever we get is from people who have generous hearts who are willing to stand alongside us and further that cause and mission.”
