HOLYOKE Celebrate Holyoke will return to the city for its 21st year on Aug. 26-28, with an "exciting line-up of concerts," according to director Jim Morrisey.

The event, which is sponsored by Greater Holyoke Inc. will take place at Holyoke Heritage Park and will include performances groups such as The Spin Doctors, Orleans and Seven Nations.

Admission to the event is free of charge.

"We try to bring in new acts that haven't played before," said Morrisey. "We always have some nationally popular headliners scheduled for each night."

He explained that a committee, charged to create the music line-up for the event, "tries to take a good, hard look at what is out there, and find the best possible acts."

Morrisey said that booking shows can be difficult process, explaining how the committee has to make sure that the performers are within its price range, and that they will be available for a show.

"It's not always as easy as people think," he said. "We try to bring in the best available act that we think will satisfy the tens of thousands of people [who] come to downtown Holyoke for a great time."

According to Morrisey, the event will most likely attract an estimated 70,000 people, as it has in past years.

He said a number of businesses and organizations have come on board to sponsor the event, including Holyoke Medical Center, BankNorth, the Paper City Brewery, Holyoke Health Center, and Comcast.

He said the city is always looking for new sponsors or vendors.

"I think it really is the best event of the summer, and I'm hoping that people make every attempt to get there because it's going to be the best Celebrate Holyoke ever," he said.

The entertainment schedule is as follows:

August 26: HotHouse Flowers Ashley MacIsaac and Seven Nations

August 27: The Spin Doctors

August 28: Orleans
