HOLYOKE The effects of Hurricane Irene in Western Massachusetts will continue to be felt in the days and weeks to come as communities wait for floodwaters to recede. Water from the storm continues to run off into the Connecticut River and on Monday morning, the National Weather Service (NWS) extended a flood warning for communities below the Holyoke Dam. According the statement from the NWS, the river was not expected to crest until Tuesday or Wednesday. Seen here is the water heavy with sediment rushing over the dam on Monday morning.
