Habitat for Humanity to host annual fund-raising hike

HOLYOKE Get some exercise, enjoy the beautiful fall foliage and help raise much-needed funds for Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity by participating in the annual Hike for Habitat on Oct. 4 at 10 a.m.
The event features two courses a one-and-a-half hour hike, or a longer, three-hour route to the summit of Mt. Tom in Holyoke. Hikers are asked to enter the mountain from the Route 5 entrance and park in the main parking lot.
Hike teams can include an unlimited number of hikers who choose to tackle the mountain as a unit. Hike as a team with friends, family, co-workers, classmates or anyone who wants to lace up their boots to raise money for Habitat. Don't have a team? No problem. Individual hikers are welcome.
This is a family-friendly event; there are no age limits for those who want to participate.
To register, hikers must raise a minimum of $25 per person, due on the day of the Hike or in advance. In return, hikers will receive:
- A 2009 Hike for Habitat T-shirt
- A water bottle
- Refreshments at the base of the trail

www.habitatspringfield.org and click on "Volunteer Up." The Hike for Habitat is listed under "Events" within the Volunteer Up program. Once registered online, participants will receive an official registration packet in the mail. People can also call the office to request a Hike packet.
