HOLYOKE — To kick off the Christmas season in Holyoke, the city hosted its annual tree-lighting and Parade of Lights in downtown on Dec. 2. As the tree was lit by Mayor Joshua Garcia, the Parade of Lights arrived outside of City Hall with Santa and Mrs. Claus via fire truck, who were ready to take photos with the children in attendance. A large crowd gathered outside of City Hall prior for hot chocolate, treats and Christmas music from the Ambassador’s Choir of the First Lutheran Church followed by the Holyoke High School Madrigal Choir. Prior to the tree lighting and parade, the unlimited rides on the Holyoke Merry-Go-Round and a holiday crafting station were open to the public inside the Holyoke Children’s Museum. Bomba de Aqui performed to close out the celebration.
