HOLYOKE "Holyoke's Happiness Machine," otherwise known as the Holyoke-Merry-Go-Round, will once again host the popular Saturdays with Santa program in early December.

The festive afternoons with Santa Claus are planned Dec. 8 and 15 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Holyoke Heritage State Park on Appleton Street.

Parents are encouraged to bring their children to meet with Santa who will be seated in an antique sleigh and will present each child with a special treat. Santa's elves will also be on hand to take Polaroid photographs of Santa and his visitors, or parents can take their own photos. Visits with Santa are free.

While at the Merry-Go-Round, which boasts 48 hand-carved wooden horses and two chariots, rides will also be offered for $1 per person or six rides for $5.

In conjunction with the Saturdays with Santa program, anyone who brings in gloves, scarves or hats for the Mitten Tree will receive a free ride on the Merry-Go-Round. All donated clothing articles will be given to the Salvation Army for needy families this holiday season.

For more information on any of the programs at the Holyoke Merry-Go-Round, call 538-9838, or visit www.holyokemerrygoround.org.
