HOLYOKE - On Dec. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kelly School, cars lined the streets waiting to receive their donations for a “contact-free” food giveaway in a “Winter Wonderland” that included ice sculptures, light displays and character inflatables.
The OneHolyoke CDC hosted the event that was open to all Holyoke residents. According to the press release, the food giveaway was a large box containing “all the fixings” for a holiday dinner to the first 500 families that walked or drove through. This is the second year that the community dinner took place in the Flats as an outdoor event due to COVID-19. Within the first 45-minutes of the event, Director of Community Engagement and Resident Services Naroby Rosa-Soriano said that 350 meals had already been given away.
