South Hadley Chorale begins 25th season with rehearsals starting Oct. 7

SOUTH HADLEY The South Hadley Chorale will begin rehearsals for its new season on Oct. 7. This season's concert will be a celebration of the chorale's 25th anniversary and will include Haydn's "Te Deum," Brahms' "Nanie and Schicksalslied" and Bach's "Dona Nobis Pacem."

Rehearsals will take place on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 1 Church St. Fall rehearsals will be Oct. 7 through Nov. 18. Rehearsals will resume in early January and will continue on Wednesday evenings until the concert on March 14, 2010.

The South Hadley Chorale has welcomed Alexandra Ludwig as director of its 2009-10 season. Ludwig is currently Assistant Professor of Music at Springfield College and is active in the area as both an orchestral and a choral conductor.

The chorale is made up of over 80 singers from 17 communities. All interested singers are invited to join. There are no formal auditions. Most singers, however, have had some choral experience. There is a fee of $70 to cover dues and the cost of music. Scholarships are available.
