HOLYOKE The Wistariahurst Museum was recently awarded a $1,785 grant in support of their Robert Kushner exhibit, which ran from September through January.

Melissa Boiselle, event coordinator at Wistariahurst, said the grant went to cover publicity and advertising for the exhibit.

The grant was the first Boiselle has applied for in her three years with the museum, she said.

Boiselle said Wistariahurst had never had an artist of Kushner's caliber. The museum generally focuses on local artists.

The exhibit, brought in by the Massachusetts International Festival of the Arts and MassMutual, was set up specifically for the Music Room at Wistariahurst. Kushner came in and hung his oil paintings in a style complimentary to the room, Boiselle said.

The display, titled "Spring Scatter Summation" was full of colorful oil paintings of flowers and other spring scenes.

"The marble [in the Music Room] was really complimentary to the colors," Boiselle said.
