Chamber Music Society season begins in November

LONGMEADOW The Longmeadow Chamber Music Society is pleased to announce its 24th season of presenting three diverse chamber music concerts featuring masterpieces from all periods of music performed by professional musicians from the Pioneer valley area.

The fall concert will be on Friday, Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. at First Church of Christ in Longmeadow and will feature music for oboe and strings. The performers are all Springfield Symphony musicians: Fred Cohen, oboe, Marsha Harbison, violin, Ron Gorevic, viola, and Boris Kogan, cello. The concert will include oboe quartets by Mozart, Benjamin Britten, and more to be announced.

The winter concert on Friday, January 26th, 2007 at 8 p.m. at the First Church of Christ in Longmeadow will feature the Schubert cello quintet and more music for strings to be announced. The performers will include the husband and wife duo: Joel Pitchon, violin, Volcy Pelletier, cello, and also Marsha Harbison, violin, Ron Gorevic, viola, and Boris Kogan, cello.

The spring concert on Sunday, April 15th, 2007 at 3 p.m. at the First Church of Christ in Longmeadow will feature music for brass quintet and saxophone by F. Tull, plus more to be announced. Lynn Klock, saxophone, will be performing with the Clarion Brass Quintet: Karen Atherton and Sheldon Ross, trumpets, Margot Rowland, horn, Ben Smar, trombone, and Gary Sienkiwicz, tuba.

A tax deductible family donation of $50 ($25 single) will provide admission to all concerts. Donations of $10 will be accepted at the door for each concert. Words about the pieces and composers are included in each concert, and a reception will follow each concert.

These concerts are sponsored in part by generous donations from Health New England, the Longmeadow Cultural Council, area businesses, and loyal patrons.



2006-2007 SEASON

Jan. 26 at 8 p.m.: Music for strings by Schubert and more. Joel Pitchon violin; Ron Gorevic viola; Marsha Harbison violin; Volcy Pelletier cello; Boris Kogan cello.

April 15 at 3 p.m.: Music by F. Tull and more, performed by The Clarion Brass Quintet and saxophone. Karen Atherton trumpet; Ben Smar trombone; Sheldon Ross trumpet; Gary Sienkiwicz tuba; Margot Rowland horn; Lynn Kloch saxophone.

All concerts are at the First Church of Christ in Longmeadow.

Memberships: Family $50, single $25, or donations of $10 are accepted at the door. Receptions after concerts.
