LONGMEADOW At their Jan. 23 meeting, the Longmeadow School Committee voted not to replace 26 School Choice students in FY07.

"The School Committee did say they were not going to replace the 26 graduating seniors who are choice students," Superintendent of Longmeadow Public Schools Dr. Scott AndersEn told Reminder Publications. "I think this is a good decision because I am not sure we have the space to accommodate 26 new students in our early grades."

In other School Committee news:

While the Facility Committee recommended building a new high school, the School Committee has not made a decision on the subject.

"Right now the School Committee does not have an official position," AndersEn added. "The Facility Committee recommended a new facility. For this reason, the School Committee is holding the tours [of LHS] on Feb. 11 at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., and then holding another public forum on Feb.13 at 6: 30 p.m."

The public is encouraged to attend.
