| By Natasha Clark Reminder Assistant Editor LONGMEADOW The Friends of the Storrs Library are seeking new members. As a bonus for joining, the organization is giving away passes to Mystic Aquarium, the Roger Williams Zoo, the Zoo in Forest Park, and the Springfield Museums. "The Friends of Storrs Library is an organization that is looking to have membership increase," said Friends Vice-President Anne Tower. "We have various ways of [looking for new members] and this is one new way to approach that." Currently the organizations is 300 members strong. "We support charitable and educational programs at the library," Tower explained. "The money that we do raise, we give a check every year back to the library for educational use, books, videos, DVDs, [and] any programs they want to put on in the childrens section." Applications are available at the library to anyone interested in joining the Friends of Storrs Library. Membership cost is $15 per individual, or $20 for a family. |
