| LONGMEADOW Local residents are invited to celebrate fall in New England with the Longmeadow Historical Society on Oct. 27 at 6:30 pm. Imagine yourself in the lantern-lit graveyard of First Church listening to the tales of several spirits from beyond the crypt. Civil War hero Howard Burnham is but one of several "ghosts" who will keep you spellbound with tales of their extraordinary lives. Enter the graveyard on Williams Street behind First Church and across from the Police Station. All are welcome to this family event. Free cider and donuts will be provided. There is no rain date. In the event of questionable weather, call the Storrs House at 567-3600 for information. Attendees are asked to bring their own flashlights. Other Historical Society fall events include the second in their fall lecture series Oct. 26 with Jim Coogan at the Community House (also the annual meeting). The third lecture will be Nov. 15 at Storrs Library and the Holiday Stroll will be in early December. |
