Library wraps up summer reading program with party

LONGMEADOW The final book raffle for the summer reading program at the

Storrs Library will be on Monday, August 15, at 10:30 and everyone isinvited.

To celebrate the end of Going Places @ Your Library reading

program all Storrs Library readers are invited to our roller skating partyand to receive some special surprises.

Just visit the library with your

reading logs. Readers will receive their reading certificate and packet of discount coupons beginning August 1.Participants will also receive a coupon for a free month of martial arts at U.S. Academy of Martial Arts in East Longmeadow. Everyone who participated in the program along with their family are invited to pick up tickets for our roller skating party on Tuesday, August 16, from 6 8 p.m. at INTERSKATE 91 in Wilbraham. Come and celebrate the end of our reading program.

STORYTIME AT STORRS LIBRARY: Take a reading adventure with SUMMER TIME FUN a STORYTIME & CRAFT program at the Storrs Library on Monday, August 18 from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. This Storytime is especially for preschoolers age two to five. Toddlers and their parents may take part in this program where our Summer Readers and the Assistant Youth Service Librarian will read stories and enjoy a craft activity.Tickets are needed.

The Storrs Library will host Purple Rock Productions a fairytale and puppet program, on Wednesday, August 17, at 11 a.m. SPINNING STRAW INTO GOLD is the retelling of the "little man in green" (aka Rumplestiltskin) who appears out of a puppet tree to perform this fabulous farcical retelling of the famous fairy tale. The audience is invited to help spin the gold as the story is spun. Purple Rock Productions combines

the arts of storytelling, puppetry, music and pantomime in creating a rare spectrum of enduring entertainment.

The program will feature live narration and character voices, exquisite hand puppets and audience participation.
