LONGMEADOW — Lubavitcher Yeshiva Academy hosted a celebration of Hanukkah on Dec. 11, with the lighting of a menorah on the Town Green. A member of the community read the names of some of the Israeli hostages being held captive as part of the Israel-Hamas war. After the lighting ceremony and remarks by Rabbi Rabbi Noach Kosofsky, the Select Board, Fire Chief John Dearborn and Police Chief Robert Stocks, dreidels and chocolate coins, known a Hanukkah gelt, were dropped from a fire truck ladder for the children in attendance.
