Meise-Munns named Longmeadow assistant town manager

Date: 9/15/2021

LONGMEADOW – The town of Longmeadow has officially announced Corrin Meise-Munns as assistant town manager. This is a new position for Longmeadow and Meise-Munns will be working under the direction of Town Manager Lyn Simmons.

Meise-Munns previously worked as the environment and land use planner at the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission (PVPC). She worked there for five years and focused largely on planning around storm water management and adaptation for climate change in Hampden County and Hampshire County.

Her first day as assistant town manager was Aug. 31. She said that she will be working as a staff liaison between all town departments, working on adaptation planning, helping to improve town infrastructure for flooding, working with the Department of Public Works (DPW) to make sure the town’s trees are intact and safe and to combat energy inefficiencies and look for renewable sources.

“I’ll be helping the town of Longmeadow plan for and adapt to the effects of the severe weather that has already been happening and will continue to come more frequently and more intensely as the climate continues to change,” said Meise-Munns.

Meise-Munns graduated from The Conway School in 2016 where she completed a graduate program in sustainable landscape planning and design. She said that she felt she had a solid grounding in regional and climate resilience planning and now wanted to be able to focus on one community instead of multiple.

“I felt like it was important for me to work at a local scale within one community to really understand how the desire for a project starts to take hold and then the planning stage gets funded one way or another and then how do we bring it all the way to fruition, what happens afterwards, etc. It was really a desire to see my projects through and to have more influence,” said Meise-Munns.

As she settles into her new position, Meise-Munns said that she is most excited to work collaboratively with town departments and town residents.

“I think I’m most excited to just keep learning about the town of Longmeadow and its residents and find ways to tell Longmeadow’s story and to also contribute to Longmeadow’s story,” she said.
