LONGMEADOW Members of Twin Hills Country Club plan to purchase the property at the end of their six year lease.

This comes after a developer reportedly made an offer for the country club and its land earlier this year, with plans to possibly build a 100 home subdivision.

"It was important to us as members to save our country club," explained William Scibelli of Longmeadow Legal Associates.

Scibelli said the members are purchasing it at the end of their six year lease in the year 2012. He said they have optioned to purchase it for a fixed amount.

He explained that the 229 golf club members need to raise $3 million and that the purchase price is roughly $7.8 million. The members plan to get the rest of the funds from a bank loan.

Scibelli said right now the goal of the members is to bring in more members.

"It is our intention to bring in more members. I would love to see 300 members," he said, joking that there are no tee times at Twin Hills. "You can come and golf any time you want. We are probably one of the only country clubs in the this area that can say that. There's always an opening at Twin Hills," he said.
