The public is invited to join in as the custom of groups meeting on the Longmeadow Green for a brief Memorial Service to honor those who fought and died for the country, is upheld. This originated around 1870. This Community sent to America's Wars: Colonial Wars, 26, one gave his life; Revolutionary War, 49, one gave his life; Civil War, 140, 27, gave their lives; World War I, 127, three gave their lives; World War II, 654, 17 gave their lives; Korean War, 176, one gave his life; Vietnam War, 229, three gave their lives; Gulf Wars, 34.
