Public hearing will focus on transfer station

LONGMEADOW Board of Health Notice of Public Hearing Pursuant to 310 CMR 16.20(7)(c) the Longmeadow Board of Health will be holding a Public Hearing on May 31, 7:30 p.m., at the Longmeadow Fire Dept., Community Meeting Room., 44 Williams St., Longmeadow in regard to the Report by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection on the Site Suitability Application submitted by the Town of Longmeadow for the operation of a transfer station at the existing Recycling and Yard Waste Center at 31 Pondside Rd., Longmeadow, MA.

The applicant is the Town of Longmeadow, Attn: Robin Crosbie, Town Manager, 20 Williams St., Longmeadow, MA. 01106.

The proposed transfer station will accept bulky waste, clean wood and recyclable material and will be open approximately 150 days/yr. The current schedule of operation of the recycling center is posted on the Longmeadow webpage at www.Longmeadow.org/towngovt/recycle.htm .

The total amount of waste projected to be collected is a maximum of 1,500 tons/yr.

The Site Suitability Application is available to be inspected at the Office of the Longmeadow Board of Health, Community House (lower level), 735 Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow, MA. 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and at the Storrs Library (Reference Desk), 693 Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow during the normal hours of library operation (these hours are posted at www.Longmeadow.org/library/hours/htm ).

The Department of Environmental Protection has issued a report in which it determines that the above described place is a suitable place for the proposed facility.

Copies of the Department's Report on Suitability and the site suitability criteria (310 CMR 16.00) are available for copying and examination along with the application.

The Board of Health will accept written comments in regard to the aforementioned application that are received during the period through May 31; such written comments should be hand delivered to the Office of the Board of Health or sent to the Longmeadow Board of Health, 20 Williams St., Longmeadow, MA. 01106.
