LONGMEADOW Students at Longmeadow High School are chipping in to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina in any way they can.

Last week, students made monetary donations to assist in the relief effort.

"From the students' stand point, they have seen it on the news. The feeling was, 'what can we do? Can we just collect money? We need to do it fast.' Those were the statements that I was hearing," Key Club Advisor /Dean of Students Vesta Brown told Reminder Publications. "They've been very generous."

Brown said there is a "huge" container that students have been putting money into during their lunch periods.

She also noted that last Friday there was a Back-to-School dance in which all proceeds went to the victims, as well.
