LONGMEADOW – Spring kicks off at The Longmeadow Shops on March 26 with a line-up of family -friendly events.
The Longmeadow Police Department (LPD) is partnering with Fleet Feet to put on a stuff-a-cruiser event. They will be collecting socks, sneakers and non-perishable food items from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The items will benefit three charities: Rachel’s Table, Girls on the Run and The Center for Human Development (CHD), an organization that works on behalf of children and adults with metal health struggles.
At the same time, people can meet Kai, the LPD K-9 police dog. Kai is a German Shepherd, and the department’s first K-9. Aside from his police duties, Kai spends time in the community, visiting schools, parks and events in Longmeadow.
There will also be free face painting by DazzleDay Face Painters at the Fleet Feet storefront and people can stop and smell the flowers at the Blooms Flower Truck.
For those looking to get out early in the day, Athleta is hosting a free fitness class at 9:30 a.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
The celebration of spring does not end on March 26. Brenda Cuoco & Associates Real Estate Brokerage will be hosting the Easter Bunny from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on April 8. Small business pop-ups are returning and will be at The Shops throughout the spring season and into early summer. These include the Blooms Flower Truck and Speed & Sprocket. The Thursday Farmers’ Market will begin in mid-June.
“We love to see everybody come back and see our neighbors come out and even people going for a walk,” said Melissa Pevay, marketing manager at The Longmeadow Shops. “It’s just nice to see everything come back to life.”
