Transportation fees announced

Date: 8/18/2009

Longmeadow Public Schools will again have a fee-based transportation program for students in grades seven through 12 who live in Longmeadow and have access to the established school bus stops. The fee for this service for the 2009-10 school year is $175 per student.

Students in grades kindergarten through six who live two miles or more from their school will be transported free of charge. These students should receive their transportation passes in the mail by the start of school.

Students in kindergarten through grade six who live less than two miles from school are also eligible to purchase a transportation pass for $175 if they have access to the established route stops.

Transportation passes will be issued after Aug. 21. To purchase a transportation pass, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the School Department Business Office, 127 Grassy Gutter Rd., Attn: Transportation. Include student's name, address, school, grade and a check in the amount of $175 payable to Longmeadow Public Schools. A list of bus stops will be available at www.longmeadow.k12.ma.us/dist.

Students will have until Sept. 11 to get their passes. At that time, the School Department will institute a "No Pass, No Ride" policy. Any student who has lost their transportation pass will be assessed a $5 replacement fee.
