S. Hadley readies for spring cleanup



SOUTH HADLEY The town of South Hadley Recycling Center reminds residents that the center provides many services for the Spring Cleanup season. Yard waste may be dropped off (at the composting area only) on Wednesday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Mattresses, box springs, and other bulky furniture are accepted at the Recycling Center from May to December. Charges apply, depending on the size of the item. Paint and paint materials may be dropped off at the Recycling Center from mid April to mid November. In addition, free re-usable paint is available every day the center is open. Call the DPW if you have questions. Books and small tag sale items may be dropped off at the Recycling Center year round. No encyclopedias or text books or Readers' Digest books. (Call Jane at 538-5033 to find out what to do with them). Used books at the book shed are free for the taking. New ones arrive all the time, so come down and check them out.

In addition, the center accepts the following materials year round. Fees apply to some items. Paper and cardboard, cans and bottles, electronics, used clothing, propane tanks, batteries and fluorescent bulks, tires, appliances, metal, scrap wood, clean wood, rubbish and bulky waste. Call the DPW if you have questions.
