City offers homes at bargain prices

SPRINGFIELD — This house at 90 Buckingham St. is one of three homes owned by the city that is available with a bid as low as $1,000 and an accepted Request for Proposal (RFP).

Robert McCarroll of the Historic Commission explained to Reminder Publications this century-plus old home will need extensive renovation including new plumbing, wiring, roof and wall work.

It still features many of its distinctive architectural details and has a front parlor with a bay window and fireplace.

The other two home are at 62 Bay St. and 74 Yale St.

The following open houses will be conducted for the properties:

• For 62 Bay St., April 30 at 1 p.m. and May 5 at 10 a.m.

• For 90 Buckingham St., April 30 at noon and May 5 at noon.

• For 74 Yale St., April 30 at 2 and May 5 at 11 a.m.

Proposals for all three houses will be due on May 23 at 2 p.m. RFP packets can be obtained at no charge from the Office of Procurement, City Hall, 36 Court St., room 307, or printed online at www.comm-pass.com .
