ENCOURAGING EDUCATION

Dr. William "Bill" Cosby spoke to 250 students, instructors and administrators at a special event at Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) on Monday to emphasize the role of community colleges in higher education. At a press conference before the event, Cosby said that community colleges such as STCC are an "area of welcome" in higher education and that many of the problems facing young people today can be addressed by the programs offered at community colleges. Cosby said that people should not denigrate community colleges because they are not a four-year school. "They should be kissing the ground around the fence because it's giving them an opportunity," he said.
