GREATER SPRINGFIELD Plans are well underway for the 17th annual Life Enrichment Expo, co-sponsored by the Springfield Jewish Community Center (JCC) and PRIME Magazine. This year's event is scheduled for April 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the MassMutual Room of the Basketball Hall of Fame in downtown Springfield.

PRIME Magazine Sales Consultant Terry O'Donnell told Reminder Publications that exhibitor sign-ups took off at a brisk pace in the first week of February, and he expects a quick sell-out of space. He said businesses interested in participating in this year's event are encouraged to apply soon.

As always, admission to and parking for the Expo will be free, and the event will be handicapped accessible.

Nancy Posnick, coordinator of the Life Enrichment Expo for the JCC, said she is very excited to be bringing this annual event to area residents again this year.

"The Life Enrichment Expo is the only major event in the Pioneer Valley that serves the needs of adults age 50 and over," Posnick said about this year's event.

She said the Expo began in 1991 as "a vehicle for people to come and get information and education about every aspect of their lives" as they approached, or enjoyed, retirement.

"And here we are 17 years later. Last year [our exhibitor space was] sold out five weeks before the event . It's become the major event of its kind and also a well-respected event," she said.

Though details were not available on all aspects of this year's Expo at press time, Posnick did assure Reminder Publications that some popular components of the annual show will be returning this year.

"We will have a strolling fashion show and entertainment by the singers from Theatrix, the youth theater group at the JCC," she said.

Posnick added, "We know there will be at least three presentations in the auditorium."

Posnick said she was also excited to announce that the Expo will be offering even more information to event-goers this year.

"We will have more exhibitors this year because we've gotten permission to use the lobby [at the Hall of Fame]," she said, adding that the exhibitor count is projected to increase from 70 to 75.

Posnick said she was reluctant to list exhibitors at this time, as the roster is not yet full.
