SPRINGFIELD The Woronoco Foundation recently awarded a two-year $15,000 grant to the Springfield Day Nursery for the purchase of 10 computers for the King Street Children's Center. The first five computers were unveiled on Thursday.

Loaded with educational software, Tommie Johnson, the director of the King Street facility, said, "Young children need 21st century skills to succeed in learning and life."

The grant from the Foundation will also help fund the hiring of a technology research consultant to train and support early childhood educators throughout the Springfield Day Nursery system.

Joan Kagan, president of Springfield Day Nursery, explained the next bank of computers will be installed next year and headphones will be bought so students will not disturb each other.
