SPRINGFIELD A focus on women's health will complement the services being offered at the newly opened Mercy Care-Forest Park facility on Sumner Avenue.

Located at the corner of Lenox Street and Sumner Avenue, the center will provide women's health services including annual physical exams and pap tests, STD testing, treatment and counseling, pregnancy testing, as well as prenatal and postpartum care. In addition, the center will offer ultrasound testing and lab work, as well as education, treatment and counseling for perimenopause and menopause.

The center, which opened Oct. 5, is staffed by Brian Toole, M.D., Robin LaValley, C.N.M., and Carmen Smidy, C.N.M. The same team of professionals had formerly served the Forest Park neighborhood at the Caring Health Center.

"Our excellent clinical team continues to provide the outstanding care our patients have come to expect, now at our brand new location," said James E. Fanale, M.D., Chief Operating Officer of Mercy Medical Center. "We also expect that Mercy Care-Forest Park will improve access to important health services for residents of Springfield."

The center is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and will conduct a grand opening and blessing program on Oct. 23.
