Noticing that the flag of the United States of America was losing its vibrancy in the American International College Metcalf Gymnasium, Roland Holstead, vice president of institutional advancement at AIC and Captain, USNR Ret. (left) turned to the AIC Veterans' Committee for help. Irene Coulson Livingstone-Mann of Springfield (right), and AIC graduate of 1971, offered to replace AIC's flag with that of her husband's, Gordon Arthur Livingstone, who is a World War II veteran and died in 1990. He also graduated from AIC, in 1947.
