SPRINGFIELD -- Over the existence of the City of Bright Nights Balls, three million people have enjoyed what was described as the "highlight of the year event" and the gala has provided $100 million in economic impact.

The Spirit of Springfield announced on Aug. 11 at a press conference the 2009 City of Bright Night Balls would again have MassMutual Financial Group as the lead sponsor. This year's event will take place Nov. 14 and will feature a theme of the "Winter Garden Gala."

The theme ties in with the newest addition to Bright Nights at Forest Park called "Winter Garden."

"MassMutual is proud to serve as the lead sponsor of this year's City of Bright Nights Ball. It is an ideal way to both raise funds and celebrate the kickoff of Bright Nights, which draws visitors each year from near and fare and provides an economic boon to the Springfield region," Roger Crandall, president and chief operating officer of MassMutual, said.

The black-tie event will be presented at the Springfield Sheraton on Nov. 14 and will include a gourmet dinner, dancing and a live auction.

Mark Tolosky, the chief executive officer of Bay State Health, called the ball the area's "premiere social event."

Tickets are $5,000 for a Golden Circle Table of 10; $2,500 for a table of 10; $500 for a pair; and $250 for an individual ticket.

The ball helps funds the Spirit of Springfield's programs including the World's Largest Pancake Breakfast, Bright Nights at Forest Park, and the Tower Square Parade of Balloons.

Mayor Domenic Sarno said, "You can't put a price tag on what it does for the morale of the city."
